Often synonymous with desert dunes, Rajasthan is home to beautiful landscape beyond the Thar desert. The state holds some of the world’s oldest mountains, has green, rolling hills surrounding lakes and dense jungle that hides Rathambore’s famous tigers, along with monkeys, leopards, deer and hyenas. From the ancient forests to the princely forts and palaces looming up from the hot sweep of the Thar Desert, we will take you on a Grand tour of the land of the Kings that will give you a complete picture of this much diverse region of vivid colours and vibrant culture.

You will discover the majestic architecture of the Mughal empire in Delhi. At the door of the Thar desert, enter the Golden city of Jasailmer. Stay in a desert camp far from the crowd and get to know more about the animal loving Bishnoi community and other inhabitants of the desert. Discover the emblematic cities of Rajasthan and experience their distinct charm: Jodhpur, the "Blue city" and Udaipur the "Venice of the East". Let your storyteller share Rajput romantic and tragic tales while exploring the remains of Chittorgarh fort. Take a thrilling tiger safari in the wilderness of the Ranthambore National Park. At dawn, visit the Pink city on cycle and get closer look to the local life happenings. Walk up to the magnificent Amber Palace and tour the hidden treasures of its old town.  At sunrise discover at last the Taj Mahal and see one of the world's most beautiful monuments.

Day 1-2 | Old Delhi and New Delhi

Arrival in Delhi. Your private driver will pick you up. We can adjust the program according to the time of your arrival. 

Start your day by visiting New Delhi and its beautiful heritage: Humayun's Tomb, Qutab Minar, Lodhi Gardens. In the late afternoon meet your guide for an Old Delhi walk through its historic sites bustle of its old markets. Get a sense of Delhi's vivacity and why the "Walled City" is its heart. 

Overnight in your Hotel if you take a flight to Jasailmer or night in a train if you wish to experience Indian trains!

Day 3 | Delhi - Jasailmer

1h flight or night train

Jasailmer fort is a massive sandcastle rising from the sandy plains like a mirage from a bygone era. No place better evokes exotic camel-train trade routes and desert mystery. According to your time of arrival start your visits. Explore the majestic fort, the palace, and the Jain temples which are numerous as the Jain community participated greatly to the splendour of the city. At sunset visit the charming Gadisar Lake and get mesmerized by the awe-inspiring light over the cenotaphs of the Bhramans.

Day 4 | Jasailmer - Manvar

2-3h (170 km)

Take a stroll through to the busy streets of the lower town this morning and visit the magnificent Havelis formerly owned by the rich merchants of the city. We do not wish to offer a camel safari in Jasailmer as we believe the experience has become a mass tourism activity. Instead, we will take you to a desert camp far from the crowd. Your camp is near Manvar in the midst of the wilderness surrounded by the sand dunes. You reach there by jeep and set up in your tent for the night. 

Day 5 | Manvar - Jodhpur

3h drive (180 km)

Take an early morning Village Walk in the desert. In contrast to the Jeep and Camel safaris it offers a quieter and more informative way to experience the desert way of life. Visit homes of its traditional inhabitants such as the Bishnois or the ‘Premier ecologists of the world’. The Bishnois have protected nature for more than 500 years and are responsible for the very survival of several species. Take a peek into the homes and know more about the lives of the desert craftsmen such as carpenters, metal-smiths and cobblers. You can also take a camel trek if you wish.

After your tour, head to Jodhpur which lies 3h away.

Day 6 | Jodhpur 

The Blue City is a bliss for the eyes with the majestic Fort of Mehrangarh, made of red sandstone, towering the old blue city. You will visit Mehrangarh and learn all about the history of the Fortress and the customs of its Rajput rulers. The height of the ramparts, the chiseled architecture and the beauty of the interiors will leave you a memorable impression. Then walk down to the old city below, a jumble of Brahmin-blue narrow alleys, fortified by a 16th-century city wall. Indulge yourself in the poetic atmosphere of these medieval streets and feel the hustle bustle of the markets and bazaars near the Clock Tower.  

Leave late afternoon for Narlai Over night stay at your Haveli.

Day 7 | Jodhpur - Narlai

3-4h drive (150 km)

Today you will head to Narlai, a petite authentic village at the foot of the Aravalli range and arrive at your charming heritage hotel. Go for a walk in the village to discover the local life. For dinner, you will taste the authentic flavour of Rajasthani royal cuisine and hospitality at the 16th-century old Baori, also known as a Stepwell, lit by hundreds of lamps spreading their light under the star-studded sky. Spend sometime with the royal residents who will tell you about the small and big stories of the locals and the heritage of the region.

Day 8 | Ranakpur - Udaipur

Leave in the morning for Udaipur. En route visit the magnificent temples of Ranakpur (90km) Finely carved in white marble, it is the largest Jain sanctuary of India. Learn about Jainism and admire this work of art built at the end of the XV century.

On your way to Udaipur, "the Venice of the East", drive on beautiful roads through the Aravalli Mountains. A fabulous landscape of buffalo wells, fields and ancestral farming techniques.

Check into your Haveli hotel and have dinner lakeside with a fascinating view of the City Palace. Overnight in a haveli overlooking the lake.

Day 9 | Udaipur

The Serene "White city" was founded in the XVI century by the Prince Udai Singh. It is the capital of the Mewar Kingdom who proudly kept resisting against the Mughal invadors. You will know more about its history by visiting the superb City Palace distinct by its lustrous white color.

Explore the “Venice of the East” by boating around the Lake Pichola, surrounded by peaks of Aravalli range. Back in the town, walk in the narrow lanes  which are a shopper's delight. At sunset be a witness of a Rajasthani folk dance performance in a picturesque setting.

Day 10 | Udaipur - Chittorgarh

3h drive (270 km) / 3h drive (270km)

Kick start the day  with an early morning cycle ride starting from your hotel. See devotees bathing by the ghats before leaving the urban space and pedaling through the surrounding lakes and green countryside of Udaipur. Visit farms and villages and witness the daily life of Mewari people. Enjoy a mini breakfast by the lake and dwell in the calmness of the place.  Back to your hotel take some time to rest before leaving for your next destination. Your driver picks you up for a drive to Chittorgarh, the largest fort complex of India, and a fascinating place to explore. It rises from the plains like a huge rock island, nearly 6km long and surrounded on all sides by 150m-plus cliffs. Let your guide share tales of pure Rajput warrior romanticism, chivalry and tragedy and admire the 37 m high XV century tower covered with detailed hindu carvings. Over night at your hotel in Bijaipur.

Day 11 | Chittorgarh - Bundi

3h drive (159 km)

Leave for the charming city of Bundi after breakfast. En route stop on the Chambal, Rajasthan’s only permanent river and take a boat trip on the river for bird- and crocodile-watching. Enjoy the greenery and get a chance to sight crocodiles, vultures, owls, king fishers, blue bollock and other species. Reach a bit later Bundi and settle in your tent facing one of the many lakes of Bundi. Only a few places in Rajasthan retain so much of the magical atmosphere of the past like this city. After taking some rest walk to the old city and stroll in the narrow lanes of the Brahmin-blue houses, near the lake, enter bazaars and temples and visit the beautiful royal stepwell. Overnight in your tent.

Day 12 | Bundi - Ranthambore

3h drive (153 km)

Get up with the sound of  birds singing by the nearby lake. After your breakfast visit the mysterious palace of Bundi with your guide. Admire one of the most beautiful mural paintings of all India, huge hunting or religious scenes made of vibrant colors will tell you more about the daily life of the Maharajas at the time. After your visit, take the best masala chai in the town or sample the famous sweet lassi in the streets. Your driver will pick you up from there and take you directly to the National Park of Ranthambore. 

Arrive at your hotel and go for jeep safari to visit the Fort of Ranthambore amidst the park before sunset.

Day 13 | Ranthambore

3- 4h drive (153 km)

This morning wake up at dawn for an exciting jeep safari in the Tiger reserve. Get ready to be mesmerized by the beauty of the wilderness: Antilops, bullocks, birds and if you are lucky get a sneak peak of the emblematic Bengal tiger. Ranthambore is the best place to sight them, they don't fear us and calmly pass by for our greatest pleasure! 

Back at your hotel take a breakfast and leave shortly after for the Pink city, Jaipur!

Overnight in your guesthouse in Amber near Jaipur. Enjoy a great sunset on the Amber fort from the terrace of your guesthouse.

Day 14 | Jaipur

Start your day with an early morning cycle tour in the old city. See its monuments, explore its vegetable and flower markets, enter temples filled with music and have a traditional breakfast in an Indian home.

Go on with your visits on foot with your private guide and wander in the City Palace and the Observatory before heading to the former capital of Rajasthan, Amber. En route make a stop to admire the Water Palace. Back in Amber, enjoy a typical lunch in an Indian family at the bottom of the magnificent fort and get to know more about this bygone era. Visit the Fort and end you tour with a heritage walk in the century age old town filled with temples and historic structures. Overnight at your guesthouse.

Day 15 | Jaipur - Agra

Enjoy a breakfast with a scenic view at the guesthouse before leaving with your driver. Make a stop en route at the Monkey temple. Enjoy the serenity of this pilgrimage place home to hundreds of monkeys. Hike all the way up the hill to the Sun temple for a breathtaking panorama on Jaipur. Arrival in Agra.

Your guide meets you at your hotel and takes you for a magical sunset boat ride behind the Taj Mahal.

Day 16 | Agra - Delhi

5h drive (200 km)

Get up early to visit one of the seventh wonders of the world. At sunrise, the marble of the Taj Mahal encrusted with precious stones is shaded with golden tones. This tomb was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the image of his deceased queen: let your private guide tell you the major tale of love behind this iconic monument. 

After breakfast head back to Delhi. Depending on your departure time, overnight in Delhi hotel before international departure.
